"Well, what kind of camera do you want?"

I picked up my first professional-grade camera in 2002. I was fortunate enough to have Air Force-trained photographers under my supervision, so I grabbed one of the more knowledgable Sergeants and asked him to teach me to use it. Of course it was more camera than I needed at the time, but I expected to grow into it like a Freshman into a letterman's jacket.

Years later, I've made myself at home with the camera, and even stepped it up a few notches.

Primarily shooting with models now, my style is a mix of specific pose direction and freestyle. I allow the model the freedom to use his/her experience to dictate the poses, while providing slight "tweaks" to head tilts and toe-pointing. Alternatively, when working with less experienced models, I will guide them through the poses I need and offer advice.

When working with me, you'll find I tend to paint a scene verbally and leave it to the model to translate it into physical pose.

I think this collaborative effort achieves the best results. The goal is for both of us to be happy with what we produce.

A little about me, I joined the US Air Force in 1989 just one year after high school. I spent a year at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA, and served as a Korean translator for 12 years.

I was stationed in Korea twice, San Antonio, and the National Security Agency. I earned a competitive spot in a great commissioning program and graduated from Texas A&M University. I am currently serving the rest of my career as a Communications and Information Officer and have recently completed my 18th year of service.

I enjoy what I do, and I'm good at it. I take the same approach with my photography, and I treat each shoot as a learning experience.

I'm a true Texan at heart, which means I drive a truck, eat lots of red meat (sorry, vegetarians!), and enjoy driving for hours and still being in the same state. I don't have a Texas "twang", but few Austinites do. My favorite show is Seinfeld, and I LOVE Dr. Pepper. I think cilantro is a vile weed, and it makes me sad that most Mexican food is seasoned with it.

I am great with kids, and you 'd be amazed how well I can read a storybook to them. I'm a soft heart, but I won't let you know that my eyes are teary when watching a "touching" moment on television. I love action movies and my vocabulary is a veritable golconda of $5 words.

That's probably more than you wanted to know about me, but there it is. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss anything.
